Luka Kovacic and Ilaria Veronese win the Vertical de la Mughéra

#showtime. At 5:00 p.m., as scheduled, the two-day skyrunning event started out from Lungolago Marconi in Limone sul Garda, scaling the mountains between the Lombardy and Trentino regions. The curtain was raised on the last and most important event of the season: the legendary Vertical de la Mughéra: a 1080 m ascent, spread over a little more than 3 km of a true sky race. A total of 108 athletes were ready to break the records that previously belonged to Rémi Bonnet (26'02") and Judith Wyder (43'47”).
No records were broken on the acrobatic slopes of the Brescian mountains, but it was pure entertainment with a capital "E" right from the start with the two-time world ski mountaineering champion Marti Werner, who added luster to a starting line on which many mountain racing, skyrunning and MTB athletes stood out. Slovenian Luka Kovacic left everyone behind and stopped the chronometer at 37'38" on Cima Mughéra. Second place went to Patrick Facchini of Trentino (38'25”), while Christoph Wachter from Germany came in third (39'18”). The day's top ten were completed by Marti Werner, Tiziano Moia, Simone Eydallin, Matteo Sostizzo, Sebastian Falkensteiner, Pietro Festini Purlan and Giovanni Bosio.
Only one woman led the women's race: ski mountaineering champion Ilaria Veronese, who won in 48'18". Second place went to Alessandra Valgoi of Valtellina (53'05"), while Francesca Perrone took third (57'34”). Cristina Giongo and Hanne Liland were runners-up.
